There are a couple of meditation routines that I have found to be helpful. I own one of those new-fangled nature noises alarm clocks. I get as comfy as possible on my bed (either horizontal or with my back cushioned against the wall). I turn on ocean or wind sound and close my eyes. I focus on my breathing while counting out time. I count slowly to 4 on the inhale, hold it for a 2 count, breathe out for a 4 count, pause again for a 2 count. Then I do it again. After about 4 times I change the counts to 6 count in/out and 3 count pause. I also do the same breath/count routine with Meriam Mesa Sunrise (check my book/music page for more about that). I find it amazingly restful.
Just recently, I purchased the Loving-Kindness Meditation tapes by Sharon Salzberg. When I use them, I will report on them here. Feel free to comment on the message board.
